About Milford Baptist Kindergarten's Programme

The kindergarten operates as a service to the community by the Milford Baptist Church. The kindergarten operates under a Board of Trustees.

The programme incorporates Christian stories and values that enhance the NZ curriculum Te Whaariki instilling values and respect for each other.

All sessions are designed to meet each child at his/her developmental level.


Both the morning session and afternoon “Rocket Programme”  provide opportunties for children to explore the following;

  • Music and movement
  • Story telling
  • Art and crafts
  • Exploration
  • Science
  • Language
  • Dramatic play
  • Puzzles
  • Mathematics
  • Manipulative skills fine and gross motor skills

Morning Session

Morning Session | 2.5- 6 Years Old

The morning session provides opportunites for children to explore music, science, language, arts and crafts, dramtic play, puzzles, mathematics, manipulative skills fine and gross motor skills.

We run a full and exciting high quality educational programme, built around the children’s needs and interests and or community focus.

Your child will develop a sense of trust in the world seeing and experiencing the same people and the same environment until they go to school. Children develop a strong sense of security when they are placed in one Centre with the same caregivers.

As part of the Milford Baptist Church we include a bible story and Christian songs as part of our daily programme

Afternoon Session

Afternoon Session | 4 - 6 Years Old

The Rocket Programme or Preparation to School Programme, primarily for 4 year olds.

Our Rocket Programme is designed to enable children who have reached the age of 4 to be involved in a more structured programme of learning as they progress towards their transition to Primary School Enviroment.

Our porgramme includes;

  • Design, planning, problem solving, constructiion
  • Casey the Caterpillar – alphabet sound and recognition
  • Extended letter and number recognition
  • Early reading, writing – names and basic words and story writing
  • Group work
  • Excursions
  • 11:45 am - 03:15 pm
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • 30 Children
  • 5 Teachers / 1 Administrator

Fees & Government Subsidy

Under 3 years old $24.00
Over 3 years old $13.00

We do not charge for public holidays when the kindergarten is closed.

Payment of fees needs to be made in full in the first week of the term. If you have any problems with this please speak to the Supervisor or Administrator. We know things can change but integrity is expected.

Any outstanding fees that are left unpaid may be referred to a debt collection agency, and you would incur the cost of the collector’s fee.

Payment Methods

We notify parents within the first week of term. Payments are to be made within 2 weeks of notification. We welcome payments via :

  • Online Banking ( Preferred )
  • Cash
  • Cheque
  • Automatic Payment

Ministry of Education's ECE Subsidy

The Ministry of Education funds ECE services to subsidise the cost of all children attending early childhood education. These subsidies are available for up to 30 hours per week. Each hour of 20 Hours ECE claimed replaces one of these hours. Read more here.

Work & Income's Childcare Subsidy

The Childcare Subsidy (CCS) is available through Work and Income. Parents and caregivers can choose between receiving CCS or 20 Hours ECE or, in some cases, a combination of both payments.
